Traditional clothing
The female costume currently consists of a rayon thong in pink or blue, decorated with tucks in the front, high collar and long sleeves. Entangling skirt, called "lacbé" or "lakap" in black calico and fastened with a girdle.
Above the blouse they usually wear the quexquemitl, which they call "thaymlab". This is a unique garment consisting of two rectangles of fabric sewn in a special way to form a sort of closed layer where they introduce the head and place it on the torso. It is a white shawl, completely covered with beautiful embroidered with colored yarn.
The embroideries are usually traditional motifs, such as the "tree of life " , animals, flowers , etc. Also they carry a bag decorated with the same motifs. Important feature is the way to fix her hair, wearing a headdress around his head in a crown, called "petob".
The traditional male attire is very simple, used only by the elderly. It consists solely of shwal shirt and trousers, tight at the waist by a girdle.
Huastecos usually go barefoot or wear sandals, a straw hat and an essential haversack.
